The break in the line

Now the end of a hmmm, maybe not so wonderful break. Much things had happened within this period. Bad things. But to individual benefits within this period, I get to loose up my tensed physique. The training in camp for the past mth had been by far the most vigorous I ever undertaken but it had well laid the foundation for my BMT.

By tml, my BMT will commence officially alongside with many companies on Tekong, in the 2 schools. Unfavourably, my buddies had been allocated into sch 1. There are many companies in sch2 that had been vacated and sadly they are not to be part of the new batch thats settling in. Anyway, it is rumoured that an all-girls batch is taking over Orion, our neighbour. It is some heart-lightening news for all Ninjas. But the truth is yet to be known. We shall hope but not anticipate.

Something abt my breather. I had went swimming, K-ing, caught a movie and walked around a revitalised chinatown.

But we met with something bad for one of the nights. A no casualty traffic accident(luckily). The situation goes with a misjudgement of my dear cousin who is taking the wheels then. While she was making an unlicensed u-turn, a high velocity cab rammed into the left corner of our vehicle.

I was afflicted with a bump on the vehicle ceiling while the rest are unaffected by the collision but we watched the cabbie flew over the road kerb and headed into a road sign. Given the velocity as he crashed into the sign, he was lucky to have got out unscathed but his vehicle took quite some damages. His front was badly dented and his driver door cant be opened.

Then we saw an unmoved man in his 50s got out with a muffin on his hand. Following, we were shoved with an arrogant and disgusting attitude of his, unknown to anyone that had survived a crash. He was confident that we being kids wont be able to compensate for the destructions and insisted we informed the authorities. As we got on our tenterhooks, A, my fren suggested that he will be held liable too. He replied with utmost confidence that he will win the case against us.

A passing police vehicle spared all the talk. As the police officer enquired on the matter, we tried to lie on a certain subject but the forgiving officer relaxed after i insisted on the truth. The officer then informed us of the proper procedures and soon we were on our way.

My cousin was so close to tears with all the anxiety of unforgiving possiblities. I could have comforted her more. For a moment i think i am aggravating her emotions right then. On sidetracking, i now understand the futility of my ability to take care of a ger. Back again, i am assured to have some great frens who stood by her and combat the inevitable alongside.

Now time for some anger. CHAO CHEE BYE!

FUCK THE CABBIE. Simple.

He is a CHAO CHEE BYE. Do i need repeat?

Upon my personal analyzation as shared by my peers too, the godamn driver SHOULD NOT be absolved of blame either. Had he not been taught courtesy? Maybe upon his outlook, he is a really uncouth and unlearned man.

What i want to say is that he could have well avoided the accident had he slowed down as it cant be that he missed seeing that our vehicle is making an u-turn. He insisted on the fact that he has the right of way as stipulated in the traffic laws and pressed on. With his seniority, his experience should have warned him of the onset of a possible collision. By jamming hard on his brakes (no cars are behind him), he could save everybody's day. He chose to sour it by carrying on what he is doing:

Move forward at full velocity.

Alas. Bang bang boom.

CHAO CHEE BYE. On second thought, we hoped he had died, not by the collision, but on his muffin. But hell, thinking abt the severity had he died, I shall give this thought a miss. We should thank God upon the grace that he got away unscathed. One way or another, someday, he gonna pay for this somehow. Now curse him, CHAO CHEE BYE!

I think cabbies nowadays are becoming increasing bo jing hu(no government). They seems to be taking the law into their hands bending it as and when they wished, exploiting the loopholes. Besides that, they seems to take advantage of their seniority on the road, proclaiming themselves kings. Something needs to be done. Something needs to be there to keep them in check. Someone gonna slap down on their arrogance. Our roads are becoming so increasing unsafe with these devils cruising around.

To think such a thing had to happen during my days out. I wished i had stayed in..... But it is time soon. My pink IC will not be in sight for 2 yrs.

And there i will go, training to be soldier!

P.S. Any related personnel that might be reading this please please do not inform our seniors, meaning our parents lah! Any material here just serves as a reference and memory.

The days

My weekends had became extremely precious and i hardly had the inspiration to churn out a piece of my life in here. Army is like a six day job. A so called honourable job as u are entrusted the sacred task of guarding ur country's sovereignty.

Much unwanted by all, i find myself thriving well in the army. Probably because, behind the excuse of an obligation, it is like a second haven to me, a place where i can hide away from the boring civie life which i find myself rotting away so rapidly. But now i am back, disrupted from the service to my country having passed the required physical demands. But sadly it only meant to last a few days.

However it is a blessing to me as well for i really find a penniless civive life extremely tasteless, limited... A recruit only earns 300++ a mth. Just quite nice for some small spending and rest goes to the transportation to and fro from home to SFT (SAF Ferry Terminal). Darn. It has to be in the east....

Now something abt my platoon and commanders.

My platoon seems to be covered under some welfare as contrast to the daily verbal abuse and punishments the other platoons are receiving. A probable reason would be that we have a "white horse" among us. We were told since second week or so that a General's son is among us. Upon analysing, my platoon 3 seems to be slackiest as compared to the rest. Henceforth the thought that he is among us. But sadly we have yet to pinpoint out who could be the one. But hell. Does it matters? As long we get to bask under his protection, nothing else quite matters. Lol.

Besides that, we have a group of commanders that are the nicest among the rest, upon the fact that they joked, and take good care of us and the absence of verbal abuse during our training. However we have an enthusiastic PC (platoon commander) who possess a zest for running. As he took us for frequent runs, our 2.4 improved tremendously. Besides the fact for that, he is like an energiser battery that nv runs dry. He enjoys taking us for 100 of pushups after runs or night PT. All his pushups are of standard from the start to the end of the PT. Though not many can withstand his PT but many tried to endure and got much better as days go by.

I am glad to have such commanders that actually care so much for us. But all good things gotta end. It is no longer a rumour that we are going to lose several of our sgts as they cleared their leave before their ORD which falls right after we POP from tekong. We already have word that some other sgts from other platoon are taking over. But nonetheless, the good times are over too. PTP gotta end and BMT is right after. No longer will we have time that we can just lie down and sleep on the floor. But nonetheless, i am sure i will be able to take it in stride.

PTP had been good. All the admin time, physical built up, SOC tried outs and route marches. I have been propagating the benefits of PTP for sometime but it all depends on individuals. I wish the best for my frens who are directly plunging into BMT for naturally PTP ppl are better geared for the coming challenge.

Now lets bring it on next tues.

Liability

20 Aug, I entered he service of the Republic of Singapore. From that day i am entrusted with duties of defending my country for 2 yrs. Or maybe even more. But for now right now, i am undergoing PTP(physical training phase).

My daily activities dun fall short of physical strenous exercises, which often left me grasping for rest where any time possible. Chin-ups, push-ups, running, endurance training, IPPT specific training. All those make up my day. I am lucky that i know how to swim. That gave me admin(free time) time where the NDUs(stands for Naval Diving Unit but as i am in Ninja Coy, it stands for Ninja "Diving" Unit, driven as a mockery to those who cant swim) are out trying to kick off. However i do have to join them in the pool for aqua jogging at times. 15mins of jogging in the pool requires alot of preparation which is definitely a waste of my time. I would rather jog around my Coy line.

Back to a main issue. Regimentation.

It is definitely not a problem to me for i had been thr it. However its my mates who bothered me. Most are unmotivated and resents the army. However as the saying goes, we "lan lan got to serve". So since we had no choice, it is always good to make the best out of the situation instead of, continuing to possess a negative outlook and chao keng where ever possible. Ultimately u are the one who stands on the losing end. I am disillusioned at my company even my platoon. They simply refused to shout, to move fast, to meet the already cut standard of our commanders. That agonises our OC, forcing him to inflict punishments upon us, which they credit off as good training for us. Our PC and Sec Coms are just as equally upset.

Besides that, our platoon itself possess no unity. Everybody are simply looking out for themselves. But however, during this 2 weeks, after sessions of harsh lessons, section mates began looking out for each other but still we are unable to function as a whole platoon. I think i am rather anxious since i was in a rather united platoon(my NCC) before despite our differences. But now i had came to convince myself that this cant be rushed. I can only hope things get better day by day as it generally will.

I will spare all the details of all my training and stuff and try to blog more abt issues. Maybe an occasional rant post. So all the best to all the frens who are yet to enter service. Good luck to u all and see u in camp.

For now, i am reporting at 8. Back to Tekong, back to Ninja, back to be a chao recruit.
